But since the brand is new to Canada, and new to us here at Steed Cycles, we want to take a moment to give it the introduction it deserves. Let's get started!
About Van Rysel
Every brand begins with a vision. For Van Rysel, that vision was to create bikes and gear that deliver World Tour performance while staying within reach of dedicated riders everywhere. In just a few short years, Van Rysel has gone from a newcomer to a recognized name in the peloton.
The name itself reflects its heritage. Van means “from” and Rysel is the Flemish name for Lille, a city in northern France at the heart of cycling culture. Flanders and the cobbled roads around Lille are legendary proving grounds—demanding, unforgiving, and steeped in racing history. It’s here that Van Rysel was born, and it’s this identity of grit, speed, and tradition that defines the brand.

Launched in 2019 at the Vélofollies expo in Belgium, Van Rysel quickly made its mark. Today, its bikes, apparel, and accessories are raced at the highest levels and trusted by athletes pushing the limits—and now, they’re available right here in Canada.
Research & Development
Innovation sits at the very core of Van Rysel. The brand’s research and development hub in Lille, France, brings engineers, designers, and athletes together under one roof. When our team visited back in May, we were genuinely impressed—the whole facility is about the size of a university campus, complete with bike paths running straight through the buildings and every level of engineering happening right there on-site.
Prototyping is extensive, with wind tunnel testing conducted just across the street at ONERA, France’s national aerospace research center. Real-world feedback loops from athletes ensure every product performs under the toughest racing conditions.
The result? Bikes, apparel, and gear that strike the perfect balance of aerodynamics, comfort, and reliability—whether you’re chasing a podium or a personal best.
Fun Fact: Van Rysel employees even have access to a painting studio to experiment with their own custom paint jobs. Some might even make it to production. Pretty cool, right?

Every Swiss Side wheelset and cockpit on a Van Rysel bike reflects this obsessive attention to detail, delivering the perfect balance of speed and handling for riders.
ONERA
ONERA, France’s national aerospace research center, is conveniently located just across the street from Van Rysel’s headquarters. This partnership brings advanced expertise in fluid dynamics and materials testing to Van Rysel’s bike development.

Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale
Van Rysel is a technical partner of the Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale UCI World Tour team, ensuring its products are tested under the most demanding racing conditions. (The team is set to adopt a new name next season, but the partnership continues at full strength.)
Van Rysel Roubaix
Van Rysel also sponsors a professional continental team competing in the legendary Paris–Roubaix and other classics—a proving ground unlike any other for equipment durability and performance.
