Kim Steed | Owner
Born and raised on the coast, Kim opened the first Steed Cycles location in 1997, one block from where it sits today. Kim has always found biking to be an amazing way to experience the real world.
“I think my earliest memory is at about age 4 when my parents bought my first two wheeled bike and I was allowed to go and ride all over the neighbourhood with my brother without anyone watching over us; such freedom!”
When not at the shop, you can catch Kim spending time with his family, or on one of his many bikes.
Steve Savage | General Manager
Steve grew up in North Vancouver and has been riding the trails on the North Shore for over 20 years. Steve is Kim’s longest standing employee, having been with the business for 17 years, and his favourite road ride is the LSCR to Seymour Dam. When not at the shop, you can find Steve running with his wife Meghan, traveling, or hiking in our beautiful backyard.
Branden Grass | Operations Manager
Branden was born and raised right here, on the Shore in North Vancouver, where he finished a Degree in Tourism and Outdoor Recreation at Capilano University. Branden has been with Steed Cycles for 11 years, and is loving life as the Operations Manager. One of his favourite local rides is the North Shore Triple Crown. A huge day of riding, this trail takes you from one end of the North Shore to the other, working your way across the trail network of Seymour, Fromme, and Cypress before ending in Horseshoe Bay.
Paul Smedman | Web Development / Online Sales
Born and raised in North Vancouver I love everything the North Shore has to offer.
An Apollo 10 Speed was my first true “Road Bike” and I still have a Kona Explosiv hanging from a hook in the basement. Clearly bikes have come a long way from those days!
After 20 years in television graphics, managing the website and online sales platforms for Steed Cycles combines my skills with my passion for cycling.
I have travelled in Europe and cycled many of the iconic climbs of both the Tour de France and the Giro D’Italia and also participated in local events like the Ride to Conquer Cancer since its inception in 2009.
When not out walking my Chocolate Labrador Bogey you can catch me on the road riding my Cervelo C5 or in the bush on my newest N+1 a Giant Trance Advanced 2.
Rule #4 – It’s all about the bike.
Tony Brisindi | Service
Reputedly born in Montreal, Tony’s coffee addiction indicates a hidden South American connection. Tony was bitten by the bike bug after borrowing a friends mountain bike back in ’89.
“The joy of exploring trails and roads less traveled, using legs and lungs, continues to motivate me.”
Tony loves to bust out a quick, early morning ride close to home, heading up 7th Secret to Leppard to Crinkum Crankum, to Kirkford on Fromme. When he isn’t busy fixing everyone else’s bike, you can find Tony preparing to bikepack the Sunshine Coast solo, on dirt and gravel.
Michael Brown | Service
Hailing all the way from Brisbane, Australia, Michael got into biking as a way to recover from an injury, and never looked back. He now spends his ride time in the Demo Forest.
“Not the dirt stuff. I love how peaceful it is, and no worries about traffic. It’s a fun little section.”

Sam James | Media & Marketing Co-ordinator
Originally from Nottingham, UK, I’ve worked as a mechanic in bike shops all over the world including Australia and New Zealand. An avid mountain biker for the last 10+ years, it’s a dream to live in the MTB mecca that is the North Shore and work in one of the best bike shops around.
I feel extremely lucky to be here working a job that I love in such an incredible place.
Here’s hoping I stick around!

Phil Brock | Sales
I originally hail from Toronto where I grew up dreaming of big mountains as a avid skier and mountain biker. I fulfilled that dream when I transitioned to Whistler after graduating university in 2002. I called Whistler home for nearly ten years smashing out powder laps in the winter months and bike park laps in the summer.
I joined Steed in the spring of 2011 and have been here ever since. Incredible colleagues and a dynamic clientele keep me hanging around.
From mountain to road; electric to kids bikes….. I’m happy to get you set up!
