Welcome to Canada's Bike Shop

Steed Cycles

At Steed, we do more than sell bikes. We are here to build a welcoming community where every cyclist feels at home. We host group rides and post-ride barbecues at the shop, work on our local trails, and share the stoke with riders nationwide.

Whether you’re navigating your commute, training for a race, or getting rolling for the first time, we’re here to provide expert guidance and quality gear. Our carefully curated product selection ensures reliable performance no matter your riding style, goals, or budget.

Steed has been rider owned and operated since the very beginning, and our passion for everything on two wheels continues to fuel us to this day.

Our Values

March 15, 1997

Steed Cycles Opens

Steed Cycles opened its doors at 1035B Marine Drive in North Vancouver. The very first shop was built by moving the contents of a garage into a 450 sq. ft. storage room in the Avalon Hotel that had been converted into retail space. In those early days, the space was shared with skateboard and snowboard shop Fresh Tracks.

1998

The first move & Santa Cruz comes to Steed

A larger space became available a few doors down at 1051 Marine Drive, giving us room to grow. This move also marked an important milestone: Santa Cruz Bicycles joined the lineup.

1999

The Steed Cycles Stunt Team launches

To help promote the shop and build community, we created the Steed Cycles Stunt Team. The team performed trials and jumping shows around the Lower Mainland using plywood jumps, skinny bridges, and boxes that all fit into a trailer. With a PA system, music, and rider introductions building up to bigger and bigger moves, the shows became a memorable part of the early Steed story.

2001

Location #3

We moved into a 3,000 sq. ft. store at 1550 Marine Drive, creating much more room to showcase high-end bikes, accessories, and clothing.

2005

Move to 969 Marine Drive

In 2005, we moved to our current location, 969 Marine Drive, continuing to grow our presence on the North Shore.

2008

Giant Bicycles joins Steed

Giant Bicycles became part of the Steed lineup, adding another major brand and partnership to the store.

2012

Specialized arrives

In 2012, we welcomed Specialized to the Steed Cycles family.

2012

A new era kicks off and Ride Club begins

This same year also brought a new logo, a full store renovation, and the launch of Ride Club. In its first year, Ride Club had 35 members.

2015

Cervélo joins the lineup

Cervélo bikes began selling at Steed Cycles, further strengthening the shop’s premium road and performance...

2016

Expanding the Store

By 2016, we started to need more space. So we took some sledgehammers to the walls, and took over the unit next door on Marine Drive. This effectively doubled the size of the shop.

Online store launches

Steed Cycles launched its online store, beginning a major new chapter beyond the physical retail space.

2026

Ride Club grows into a major community

Ride Club now has more than 225 members, supported by sponsors, BBQs, and more than 50 ride leaders — a reflection of the strong cycling community that has grown around Steed Cycles.
