We’ve all been there. The New Year comes around, we set our resolutions, and some stick while others quietly fade away. The Pas Normal Studios January Challenge is one that we have not abandoned for the last two years: ride 1000 km over the course of January.

This year, Steed hosted its second annual Resolution Ride on Saturday, January 17th, and we could not have asked for a better turnout. Originally scheduled for the week before, we took the gamble to move the ride to avoid the unpredictable January weather.
It paid off.
Over 80 riders showed up at the shop under clear skies, ready to ride 115km.

Completing a century ride in January is no small feat. For some, riding over 100km is part of the regular routine. For others, it was a first. Everyone came together, reconnecting with friends and making new ones along the way.
The chilly sunny morning eventually gave way to fog and mist because of a weather inversion trapping the moisture at sea level (I'm no scientist, but something along those lines...). The sun was barely visible for much of the ride, and although the fog and cold air filled the roads, the riders’ energy didn’t drop for a second.

Following the same route as last year, the ride was split into groups led by Pas Normal Studios ambassadors and Steed Ride Club leaders. Riders made their way south of Vancouver, where an aid station awaited on the waterfront in Steveston with coffee, donuts, and a cozy fireplace. This was the perfect spot to recharge before chasing the sun back to the shop for bevvies and snacks.

Rides ranged from 4.5 to 6 hours, and while a few punctures and mechanicals popped up along the way, the energy and camaraderie never wavered.
We are incredibly grateful to Pas Normal Studios for their support and to all the ride leaders who went above and beyond to make the day such a success. It was a reminder of why we ride together: challenging ourselves, finding the motivation, and sharing the experience with our amazing community.
