We all know the Santa Cruz Tallboy as a versatile trail bike built for long, epic rides. While the latest generation is lighter and more capable than ever, XC racing isn't necessarily the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a Tallboy.
Earlier this year, Santa Cruz invited us to the OneUp Back Forty in Whistler, BC, to put the Tallboy to the test in one of British Columbia's toughest Marathon XC races. With long, grueling climbs, technical descents, and 28 kilometres of demanding terrain, it was the perfect opportunity to see how much fun we'd be able to have on the Tallboy in these conditions.
Our goal wasn't to chase podiums. We wanted to find out whether a bike known for its versatility and trail manners could hold its own in a race like this, and more importantly, whether it could still keep a smile on our face by the finish.
Watch the video below to see how the Tallboy, and our Marketing Coordinator Vanessa, handled the challenge and whether fun was still on the agenda after all those climbs and descents.
