Welcome to podcast episode 14! In this episode we're thrilled to be chatting with Bianca Hayes. Bianca will be riding across Canada later this year in support of Ovarian Cancer, aiming to raise $1m in funds. Ovarian cancer is a cause close to Bianca's heart, sadly losing her sister to the disease in 2018. Ovarian cancer has an extremely low survival rate, and so Bianca hopes that her fundraising will lead some meaningful advances leading to more hope for those diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Bianca already rode across Canada in 2020 and holds the fastest female time of 19 days, however this time around she hopes to beat that record and get her time in the Guinness World Records. Bianca has overcome some health struggles herself, and having managed to do this and complete a ride to San Francisco and riding across Canada, her story is immensely inspiring as well as being real and raw. Bianca talks about some of the obstacles she has had to overcome and wears her emotions on her sleeve - after all this is an emotional topic for many (disclaimer - there is some adult language).
This is just one example of the positive change cycling can make in the world. We hope you enjoy listening to Bianca's story as much as we did, and we hope you take some inspiration for yourself.
