On Friday, September 18, Steed hosted the first-ever Chasing Dirt MTB Movie Contest, bringing together mountain bikers, filmmakers, brands, athletes, and the wider cycling community for a night of films and good times. What started as an idea to give riders a platform to share their stories and creativity grew into something that felt like a small MTB festival.
Around 200 people joined us at Container Brewing in Vancouver for an evening of mountain bike films, community, and celebration. With an incredible lineup of films, door prizes, partner activations, and plenty of good conversations, it was a night we won't forget anytime soon.
Celebrating Mountain Bike Stories
We received a wide range of submissions from filmmakers across BC, each bringing their own perspective, creativity, and connection to riding. From personal stories to road trips with friends, the films showcased the many ways mountain biking brings people together.
After reviewing the submissions, we selected eight finalists to screen at the event. The evening culminated in the announcement of six winners, who took home prizes from our generous partners.

Supporting Protect Our Winters Canada
Chasing Dirt was also an opportunity to give back. All ticket proceeds were donated to Protect Our Winters Canada, with a total of $2,546.28 raised.
The donation will support POW Canada's work on climate advocacy and its efforts to address the impacts of wildfires in Canada. A huge thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket, supported the event, and helped us turn a night of mountain bike films into something that could make a difference beyond the community.
A Massive Thanks to Our Event Partners
Chasing Dirt wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our event partners. A huge thank you to Shimano, Akta, Race Face, FOX, and Sun Peaks Bike Park for helping us bring this project to life and supporting local mountain bike filmmaking.
Their involvement went well beyond prizes. From brainstorming ideas with us, to showing up on the night to connect with the community and cheer on the films, to pitching in behind the scenes to help us wrap things up, they were genuinely part of making the event happen.
It’s one of the things we love most about working in the bike industry. The brands we work with aren’t just logos on a poster. They’re made up of people who ride, show up, share ideas, and are part of the same community we are. We’re pretty proud to work in an industry that feels this accessible, connected, and supportive.
Also a massive thanks to the athletes who made the time to join us and support the event. From sharing their own films to chatting with guests throughout the evening, our incredible MC Hailey Elise, Steve Vanderhoek, Lucy Van Eesteren, and Nash Jameison helped make the night that much more special.
Chasing Dirt 2027: Save the Date
Following the success of the first Chasing Dirt event, we've already marked the calendar for next year: September 17, 2027 | Container Brewing, Vancouver, BC
We're excited to bring Chasing Dirt back next year and make it even better. Details about the 2027 contest will be announced in early June, including submission guidelines and how to enter.
