#steedprettyandgritty Launch Weekend Recap

With thunderstorms looming, Friday night saw the 2015 season of the all women, all mountain Steed Pretty and Gritty rides kick off with a big bang! We (Monika Marx and Ann Yew) decided to hold a launch night to help future club members get to know each other, who we are, and what the club is all about.

We joined 7 experienced, industry, and all-around kick ass riders/women in answering a few questions about their riding history, riding focus, bikes they ride, and riding tips. Our hope was that everyone in the room would be able to relate to at least one of the speakers. Thanks everyone for sharing your stories and advice.

During the evening, our sponsor Bridge Brewing Co.’s pale and amber ales quenched our thirst, Prima provided delicious bar samples, and Sombrio showcased their Spring women’s line. Two lucky women won generously donated Sombrio hoodies. After we wrapped up at Steed, we headed over to Il Castello for delicious pizza and beverages.

Rainfall warnings did not deter 17 women from braving the elements on Sunday, our first ride of the season. We chose to ride the newly re-worked 7th Secret, Leopard, Krinkum Krankum and Kirkford. Despite the 70mm of rain, after the ride, one rider commented, “I don’t know why but I’m way more excited to ride my bike now”. Others hit new Strava PR’s, and still others rode features they’d never tried before.

The Steed Pretty and Gritty rides will happen once monthly, offering a variety of local and out of town rides.  We can’t wait to get out and ride with this crew again!
