November 05, 2012 (Squamish, B.C.) – Things continue to evolve for Squamish’s most popular community event and festival, The Test of Metal. Cliff Miller, president of Test of Metal, Inc., announced a series of changes for the 18th edition of the race.

“We’ve got some new partnerships, a new title sponsor, and some changes in our registration,” said Miller. Nesters Market has come on as the title sponsor for this year replacing North Shore Credit Union.

“NSCU was a fabulous sponsor of the Test of Metal for eight years. We really appreciate all they did for us over that time,” said Miller.

I’m not sure what your experience has been with bike riding in Vancouver this spring, but I know that mine has been almost unpleasant.  It seems like every day that I have off it has been pouring rain. If I didn’t like riding my bike so much, I might even take up golfing.  Oh right, I suppose it is just as miserable golfing in the rain.

As could be expected with a wet spring like the one we’ve had, the 17th?? annual ritual known as the Test of Metal occurred in the middle of a downpour.  I think this is 8th TOM that I’ve done, and this one had to be the wettest, most slippery of them all.

>I’ve been stoked to ride Squamish for quite a while now. Anytime I hear of someone riding there it’s always good things, and that that’s where you go to ride cross-country! Having my new Giant Trance X1, I figured what better time to go ride there. I had a problem though… I didn’t know where the trails were or my way about. I’ve tried to make it there with friends before, but for some reason it never worked out. But, yesterday I went! Sometimes the pieces just fall together.

I found a great person to take me on a tour of the Squamish xc trails! Before we left we had to gets some essential oils (chain lube), and we were off. During the week, it really doesn’t take long to get to Squamish from North Van.
